REVIEWS FOR GABBITAS EDUCATIONAL CONSULTANTS LTD
JULY 2000 - SEPT 2003
PERMANENT / OFFICE BASED
MARKETING DEPARTMENT
OFFICE CULTURE: Not very competitive; quite relaxed and friendly. Bit strange with the amount of ex-headmasters smoking pipes and the like though!
OFFICE ENVIRONMENT: The office is semi open-plan. Each department is sectioned off by cupboards and bookcases. The office building is typical of the West End - very old and no air conditioning, so it's really hot in summer and cold in winter.  There is a well equipped kitchen. When I worked there the directors smoked pipes or cigars in their offices which wasn't all that pleasant, but they might not do any more.
CAREER PROGRESSION OPPORTUNITIES: Depends what department you work in. Not in marketing.
COLLEAGUES: My boss was really nice and gave me a lot of responsibility. The other younger people at the company were all friendly.
SOCIAL CULTURE: Drinks at local pub most Fridays
COMPANY SOCIAL EVENTS: Christmas party at a local italian restaurant. Summer party every two years
LOCAL AREA: Soho so lots of shops, food outlets, bars etc. It's really lively
LOCAL BARS: Plenty. We used to go to Digress for happy hour between 5pm and 7pm as it was just across the road. Great price cocktails and champagne!
FOOD SOURCES: Benjys for a cheap lunch, and there are loads of sandwich shops and healthy options, but pretty much anything goes in the West End
Male/Female balance: 50/50
Performance Review: Annual
London Weighting: No
Pay rises: Annual / Performance based
